Google video about categories and tags

Matt Cutts from Google made a little Youtube video in which he discusses adding tags and categories from a search engine perspective. He says that Google can tell what your post is about, so tags aren’t needed. However, some aggregators use categories to show up in different feeds, so they are quite useful.

We build websites on Wordpress, which means search engines can easily find out what the crux of your website is. I’d like to reiterate that any posts that you write, must be written for your website visitors (and not search engines). If your visitors find tags and categories handy, say for navigating or searching for related content, then add them in a thoughtful way. Otherwise, you don’t need to ;-) Check out the video below.

Putting the cost of web design into perspective

In our opinion, the cost of our web design starter kit is very fair. We’ve kept the hours needed to design and build a website to a minimum, which suits most people’s needs.

There is room for a few changes, but if you want to try more options, like a different colour here or another font there, or perhaps change the layout again, then these changes will be charged for separately on an hourly basis. A fair method for everyone!

We’d also like you to consider the functionality that you’re getting with your website - a content management system (CMS) with full interactivity for your visitors. Read the rest »

SEO & Visitor Friendly Websites

What is SEO?

If we take Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) in account while we’re planning and designing your website, it means that search engines will be able to find your website pages and recognise your keywords. We are essentially telling them what your website page is about in a quick and efficient manner. We discuss white-hat SEO methods with our clients to ensure their website pages don’t get penalised in the long run, as is the case when black-hat methods are utilized.  Read the rest »

Professional vs. Self-Build Websites

Why get a professionally-built website?

Not every website needs to be built by a professional, like personal family websites or casual hobby websites. And nowadays there are many websites and/or hosting packages that offer free website builders. Most are very easy to use, so go ahead (you can read more at category: “Self-Build“). However, if you’re serious about your website, then it should look professional.

The biggest reason for having your website designed by a professional, is to have a successful website that fulfils its unique purpose and achieves its goals.

Professional web design also saves you time (getting to grips with everything can be very time consuming) and gives you peace of mind (knowing that your website has had the best possible start). Our client’s websites are successful! They are found by search engines, and they make it easy for people to get what they’re looking for.

How to Change a Hosting Provider

If you need to move your website to a different hosting provider for technical reasons, such as the current hosting package doesn’t meet the minimum requirements needed for a CMS website, or if you’ve found a better hosting provider that you’d like to move your website to, then you first need to check the termination clause in the contract with your existing hosting provider. Internet Video’s

Adding videos to a website really makes it seem to come alive. Professional videos are able to get your message across far more quickly than what a person can read on your website, providing extra information and credibility about products or services. They offer a “human touch” to the people visiting your website. Read the rest »

Forums & Blogs (web logs)

Another way to get links to your website is to join forums and blogs in your field of expertise. By offering useful information that other visitors will find helpful and interesting, you can establish yourself as an authority in the field. This should not be used as a marketing trick! Most forums and blogs require people to log in and to create a profile, which is where you can add a link to your website. Read the rest »

Organic Ranking in Search Engines

Natural Ranking is Highly Sought-after

The most sought-after promotion tool is to rank highly in search engine results. This is known as organic ranking or natural ranking. A high organic ranking means that when a visitor types your keywords into a search engine, your website appears on the first page i.e. in the top 10 links. This is very desirable as very few visitors go past the second or third page of search results. Read the rest »

Original Website Content

“Content is King!” is the motto for the Internet

If your website provides unique, original content on your specific topic, then it’s very likely that you’ll be considered as a reliable source of information in your field. You might be asking, “Why do I need original or unique content, when so many other websites have the same information?” Well, that’s just it. Read the rest »

Choosing a Hosting Package

Hosting and Internet Service Providers

If designing a website is like building a house, then registering your domain name would be the same as choosing your address or postcode. Choosing a hosting package would be like finding a safe piece of ground with suitable facilities to build your house on.

Your website needs space on a server, which has certain things that make it compatible for the Internet. You’re effectively renting space on one of the Internet Servers that the hosting provider keeps in their secure, web-ready computer room. Read the rest »

Free hosting for your photos & videos

YouTube is a great way to share your Internet videos with others, and to link back to your websiteHobby photographers and videographers don’t need to have a website professionally built. Websites like YouTube and Flickr make it very easy to share photographs and videos with the world. As an example, you can see our videos on YouTube and photographs on Flickr.

If the photographer or videographer wants to be taken seriously as a professional, then he or she should consider having a tailor-made website designed to suit their style and personality.

"The once-off fee was very reasonable and that makes me happy! But what's awesome is that I can add content myself whenever I get an idea .. normally in those early red-eye moments. I just go online, add a draft and then go back later to fine-tune it. Thank you."
