So using a house as an analogy, we’ve listed the basic steps of creating a new website:

1. Choosing your Domain Name – the domain name is the address where your website will live, and usually begins with http://… To make it easy for website visitors to remember our address, we choose a descriptive name for our website, one that helps people to identify with us e.g. http://webdesign.marvic.biz or http://toursandtales.com.
2. Choosing a Hosting Package – Web hosting is the physical space on an Internet server allocated to the pages of your website. Hosting packages offer different features (e.g. space) for different rates.

 Other steps that we take with our clients when designing new websites include:

• Planning your Website and its pages – We’ll gladly help you with the planning, but no one knows your business better than you do. So this is your chance to shine, because a well planned website lays the foundation for a successful website. Planning is important because it gives you a clear structure to work with and clarifies your website’s goals. Questions you need to ask yourself are which products/services am I going to include? How many photographs would I like per page? What message do I want to get across? Which information can I use to attract visitors to my website?
• Designing your Website - You can send us a couple of reference URLs so that we can see what kind of look-and-feel you’re after for your website. We also welcome any ideas that you have about colour schemes and layouts. We can also work from photographs to set the colour scheme. Take a look at our Stock Photography website that was designed based on the colours in the reed sunrise photograph. We’ll mock up a couple of design ideas in a graphic and email them to you so you can decide the right direction for your website. Once the design has been chosen, we can make reasonable changes to the design during the build.
• Building your website pages – Our clients send us one email per page with the text. Attached to this email are the photos for that page. We’ll start your website off with 10 pages and then show you how to add the rest, as well as how to make changes to the existing content and photographs. As our client, you’ll have access to our exclusive training website.
• Promoting your website – the final stage of creating a new website is telling people about it and encouraging them to visit. As our client, we’ll submit your website to the relevant search engines and work with you on other methods for promoting your website.
