An excellent way to get people to visit your website is to offer your visitor a freebie with a link to your site e.g. a background or screensaver that they could also pass on to their friends.

If you have a small video that’s related to you and your niche that’s interesting or funny, you could place it on a social network website like YouTube with a link to your website.

Inbound Links

The creedo “it’s not what you know, but who you know!” isn’t as important on the world wide web as “who knows you?” You need to get as many quality websites linking to your website as possible! Especially high-traffic websites that are popular and authorities in your field.

By adding your link to their website, they are vouching for you and telling their visitors (and search engines) that your website is trustworthy. The more quality links pointing to your site, the higher your website will be ranked.

Finding links is a time consuming task, and needs to be done diligently. We look for appropriate websites such as organisations, associations and specialist forums. Many websites offer a link swap with related websites. Often these are text-links, but sometimes these other websites also allow banner links. We can create a banner-page for our clients to give other webmasters a choice of banner and/or text links.

Avoid automatic link submission at all costs! You’ll probably receive many offers by e-mail to automatically submit your website for link swapping / to search engines. These kinds of links are mostly generated by link-farms (unrelated link swapping aimed at increasing popularity) and could get your website blacklisted by the search engines, which is difficult to undo.

A note on outbound links – we take care when creating outbound links (to other websites). Dubious websites or websites that take part in link-farms could affect your ranking! Your outbound links should be related to the content of your website.
