Portfolio: Rob Mieras 4×4

Rob Mieras is a 4×4 driving instructor on the weekends and takes part in various challenges, like the Crotia Trophy. His website shares his passion of everything Land Rover and has great videos, stories and photographs of his experiences.

Using his photographs, we created a theme with a clean structure and even made a little Landrover icon for his buttons. Sticking to the 4×4 theme, we used field jargon for the menu names and have started him off with his first 10 posts. The reaction so far has already been amazing.

David Koning is a game ranger in South Africa. His website is intended to share his bush experiences and some of his amazing photographs. The close encounters with the dangerous big five are harrowing and interesting to read. We designed his site to reflect his experiences.

Past and Current Project

In 2007 we created the enormous website for wildlife photographer, Yvonne van der Mey, that has over 2000 pages in Dutch and English, using static .htm pages. It was a mammoth task that involved a lot of team work, and her website is very successful.

Because technology has moved on, and to make it easier for Yvonne to add her own photographs, we’ve decided to migrate this website onto a content mangement system.

The migration is taking place in parallel to her existing website, and once all the pages, galleries and photographs have been added, we’ll update the links.

New features include a shopping cart, automated photo gallery, post updates and an internal guest book (her current guest book was originally hosted on an external website).

Portfolio: Tours and Tales

The second website we registered and created! Tours and Tales originally began life hosted on marvic.biz, but for clarity and ease-of-use when handing out the URL, we chose to register it with its own domain name

Since 2003 this website has evolved quite dramatically with many different versions and just as many faces. It started off as static html pages that were enormously difficult to update and change and what we really needed was a content management system and a database.

We migrated this website onto WordPress in 2008 and haven’t looked back. Finally we’re thrilled with the way it looks and the functionality it has, including photo galleries and interactive comments / feedback per article.

It is essentially a travel writer’s website that also shows off our photographs and videos.

To monetize the website, we’ve added Google Adsense, and appropriate, targeted banner ads on specific articles.
